We’ve all been there. The post-breakup doomscroll. You see a photo of your old friends, all smiles, and the penny drops. You’ve been quietly shut out. And the video encapsulates this.

London’s Vegas Water Taxi have turned that gut-punch into a gently devastating new tune, ‘chateau photo’. It’s the first taste of their new EP, long time caller, dropping October 3rd on PNKSLM Recordings.

Frontman Ben Hambro gets straight to the point. “This song is about the moment of realisation that you’ve been replaced… after a break up. Obviously it happened when I saw a photo on instagram.”

He calls it a “double-edged sword,” mixing the hurt with a newfound sense of freedom. “Musically, I think I was aiming for Oasis meets Silver Jews – think we nailed it.”

The new EP was recorded with Folly Group’s Louis Milburn and leans into the band’s knack for smart, sad pop songs, all wrapped in glissando-like Americana tones and a healthy dose of British irony.

After ditching his theatrical Lazarus Kane alter-ego, Hambro has found his groove with something far more honest. Vegas Water Taxi are already building a reputation as a must-see live act, selling out shows and opening for names like Katy J Pearson.

This isn’t just another indie band. It’s wry, self-deprecating storytelling for the emotionally bruised. Catch them live at The Ivy House on November 21st.
