Pynch Return with Lo-fi Love Letter ‘Beautiful Noise’

Indie outfit Pynch are getting personal on their sophomore album. No more raging against austerity Britain – this time they’re diving headfirst into matters of the heart.

Their latest single ‘How You Love Someone’ showcases the band’s evolution, mixing lo-fi guitars with new wave synths in what frontman Spencer Enock calls “a restless dissection of modern love.” The track was shot on a ’90s Hi8 camera, because nothing says emotional vulnerability quite like grainy vintage footage.

The new album ‘Beautiful Noise’ (out 3rd October) sees the band trading political commentary for philosophical musings. Think less “state of the nation”, more “state of the soul” – with added drum machines and glitchy vocals for good measure.

Recorded in their home studio with drums laid down by Stereolab’s Andy Ramsay, the record sits somewhere between Pavement’s slacker charm and New Order’s synth-pop prowess. New member Myles Gammon brings fresh textures on synths, while drummer Julianna Hopkins steps up to the mic for some dual vocals.

The album tackles everything from Reddit relationship advice to existential late-night musings, all wrapped in what they’re calling “playfully DIY fashion.” Because let’s face it – if you’re going to ponder the void, you might as well do it with a wink and a fuzzy guitar riff.

Pynch kick off their UK tour this October, hitting venues from Manchester to Cardiff. Expect plenty of new material and possibly some deep philosophical discussions about the perfect pair of jeans.
