Liverpool’s Courting are back with their first new music since March’s acclaimed album Lust For Life. The urgent new single “the twins (1969)” arrives via Lower Third Recordings and hints at bigger things to come.
The track marks the first mention of a deluxe edition of their critically praised third album. More details are promised soon, but “the twins (1969)” suggests the expanded release will dive deeper into the album’s themes of duality and contradiction.
Sean Murphy-O’Neill explains the new song’s emotional core: “The Twins is about only missing something once you’ve lost it. Filling boots, and leftovers.” It’s a sharp exploration of grief and hindsight, wrapped in the band’s signature tightly wound delivery.
The timing couldn’t be better. Courting just wrapped their second US tour this year, selling out venues across America for the first time and sharing stages with buzzy NYC outfit Geese. They’re riding high on critical acclaim too – with five-star reviews calling Lust For Life their “best album yet.”
The band return to London on 27th September for a show at Paper Dress Vintage as part of SOUNDHOOD by SON Estrella Galicia. After conquering America, it’s time to remind home crowds why they’re being called “an unstoppable force in the UK indie landscape.”
With “the twins (1969)” proving they’re not slowing down, this deluxe edition can’t come soon enough.
