Jon Bon Jovi’s vocal cord surgery nearly killed his career. So he did what any rock legend would do and called in every favour he had.
And it must have been a lot of favours. FOREVER (Legendary Edition), dropping 24 October, featuring collaborations with Bruce Springsteen, Avril Lavigne, Robbie Williams and a who’s who of rock royalty.
“This album is borne out of necessity,” admits Jon Bon Jovi. His well-documented vocal surgery left him studio-ready but tour-incompetent. “Without the ability to tour or promote an album we were all very proud of, I decided to call on some friends.”
“Hollow Man” with Bruce Springsteen, two Jersey legends finally sharing a mic, is the standout track, and it drops this Friday alongside lead single “Red, White and Jersey.”
The 14-track reimagining also features Jelly Roll, Joe Elliott, Jason Isbell and Ryan Tedder. Each collaboration breathes new life into tracks from the band’s well-received Forever album.
“There is always something bigger than ME, and that’s WE,” reflects Bon Jovi. It’s a humbling admission from a frontman who’s spent decades commanding stadiums solo.
The original Forever earned praise as “a triumph” (The Times) and proof the “Jersey Boys have still got the swagger” (Daily Mirror). This legendary edition might just prove they’ve got the connections too.
