Rise Against have unleashed the title track from their upcoming album Ricochet, dropping this Friday on Loma Vista Recordings. It’s their first album in four years, and blimey, they’ve come back swinging.
The track arrives with an explosive performance video that perfectly captures frontman Tim McIlrath’s vision: “people dancing while bombs and bullets careened overhead.” It’s a stark contrast between oblivious joy and looming destruction — basically, the world we’re living in right now.
“We rely on each other, whether we like it or not,” McIlrath explains. “Everything that you do will affect somebody… What we do, good or bad, creates one big ricochet effect.” The message hits harder than their signature power chords.
Produced by GRAMMY-winner Catherine Marks (Boygenius, St. Vincent) and mixed by Alan Moulder (Nine Inch Nails, The Killers), this 12-track collection tackles everything from apocalyptic scenarios to mental health, all wrapped in their most visceral sound yet.
The album follows previous singles ‘I Want It All‘, ‘Prizefighter‘ and ‘Nod‘ — the latter dubbed “the anthem we need right now” by VICE. Rolling Stone called it a “particularly potent rallying cry for the moment.”
Fresh off their triumphant return to Vans Warped Tour and festival headline slots across three continents, Rise Against are gearing up for dozens of US arena shows this autumn. Because apparently, telling the truth in a time of deceit really is a revolutionary act — and they’re doing it with style.
